Stress relieving - body balancing treatment
in a community setting
Enjoy an Acupuncture treatment in a group setting. Community Acupuncture means you receive treatment in a large shared room. For this group, you will lie on a mat on the floor. Acupuncture points on your arms, legs and head are used. We do not treat all ailments using this method however the treatment is like that of a treatment in a private setting. Time to Heal’s Community Acupuncture allows for a stress relieving - body balancing treatment at affordable rates.
Everyone in the group setting benefits from the “collective Qi” (pronounced chee) in the shared space which contributes to the power of healing.
On your first visit, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Hang your coat on the rack and take off your shoes. Your practitioner will greet you and ask you about whatever health concerns motivated you to come in. You will be given some paperwork to fill out and your practitioner will do a 5-10 minute intake with you. After your interview, before the class starts, go to the washroom … then it’s time to prepare to get POKED!
This is a quiet space. Please turn off your cell phone and speak quietly.
You can set your phone, wallet, etc. into individual spaces (cubicles) inside the room, located on the wall to the left of the door. Pick an empty floor mat, roll up your pant legs slightly above the knee, shirt sleeves slightly above the elbow and get comfy.
Your practitioner will use an alcohol swab to clean the skin in the area first. The practitioner will insert a total of five (5) needles chosen to relax and balance the body. The needles go in gently and quickly - they should not be uncomfortable. The practitioner will leave you to relax, however will be keeping an eye and an ear on everyone.
Most people naturally relax after a few minutes and rest for 40 minutes or more. Please take the opportunity to get some rest. Once everyone’s treatment has begun, a guided meditation will assist with stress reduction and augment the benefits of relaxation for the body.
It’s normal to feel a little light-headed afterwards. Please bring some water to drink at the end. You are welcome to bring a pillow and a light blanket or sheet (quietly relaxing sometimes causes people to feel chilly).
